SAFETY RULES/LAWS AND REGULATIONS PUT-IN-BAY WATERCRAFT RENTAL, INC. AND THE STATE OF OHIO, DIVISION OF WATERCRAFT:
Anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 must possess a boater education certificate to be able to operate a watercraft with more than 10 horsepower. This applies to both operators and supervising adults. Operators and Renters must be at least 18 years of age.
If you do not have a boater education certificate, you can take a 10 question exam at Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals, after reading a study guide, or you can obtain one online by clicking HERE
Operator must abide by all rules and regulations of the U.S. Coast Guard, Ohio Division of Watercraft, and Put-In-Bay Watercraft Rental Inc.
Operators and passengers must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (life jacket) at all times. All operators must have the lanyard-type engine cut-off switch attached to them or their personal flotation device. All safety equipment is provided here free of charge.
Operating a boat carelessly, heedlessly, or without due caution, or at a rate of speed that endangers another person, boat, or property is prohibited. This would include becoming airborne less than 100 feel behind another boat, following a skier or tuber closer than 200 feet, or weaving through congested traffic.
No craft may be operated within or through a designated bathing area or in or through any area where boats are not permitted.
Operating a boat while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or drugs is illegal.
Sitting, standing, or walking on a moving boat is prohibited in areas not designate for that activity (i.e. foredecks, sundecks, gunnels, etc.).
Exceeding the number of people or weight limits listed on the capacity plate is prohibited.
Littering is prohibited.
The orange and white buoys indicate different activity zones or special areas on the lake. Pay close attention to the buoys and what they indicate.
Operator must remain in the designated boundary at all times.
Operator must idle the watercraft for 300 feet in and out from the shoreline.
Once out 300 feet, the operator must stay out 300 feet from the shoreline.
Operator must stay AT LEAST 100 feet away from all other objects in/on the water. THIS INCLUDES FRIENDS ON OTHER RENTED WATERCRAFT.
If the operator is in trouble, they must cross their arms over their head and wait for an employee of Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rental Inc. to assist them.
You must show up 15 minutes before your reservation for a safety and operational instructions.
Do not be late for your reservation. There will be no refunds.
Reservations may be changed up to a week prior to your scheduled time, and deposits will be applied to a new reservation only.
